“We partnered with the world’s pre-eminent portrait photographer to launch the new Lincoln flagship. Annie Leibovitz is a photographer of substance. According to the AAA, Thanksgiving weekend is one of the busiest weekends of the year. Over this holiday, more than 40 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more to meet up with friends and family to celebrate this holiday together. While there’s a lot of fun to be had, there’s also bound to be some sub-optimal road conditions ahead. Follow these tips from our Newark DE area Lincoln dealer to stay safe and prepared for whatever lies on the road ahead.
No one wants to be stuck in traffic when their gas light comes on, and the best way to avoid this is to fill up before you get on the road. While you’re at it, top off any fluids you need. When you’ve got a long ride ahead of you, it never hurts to be prepared.
When you’re loading up the family and all your supplies, it’s possible that you could be exceeding your car’s load capacity. Doing so puts unnecessary strain on key components of your vehicle, and could result in problems down the road. Check the placard inside the driver’s door jamb to see what the load capacity is for your vehicle before heading out, if you feel you may be close.
With that many people on the road, it’s very likely you’ll encounter traffic if you’re traveling long distance. Expect it. Leave a little early in anticipation of delays, or try avoiding therush by leaving early in the morning. Even just being mentally prepared can help you cope with the situation and make it less unpleasant.
If your car needs an oil change, tire rotation, or any other routine maintenance, it’s best to take care of that before adding more miles to the odometer. If you need help with this, don’t hesitate to schedule service at our Newark DE area Lincoln service center. Our friendly and knowledgeable technicians will make sure your vehicle is ready for whatever lies on the road ahead.
If you have any questions, or you’d like to learn more about the vehicles and services offered at our dealership, don’t hesitate to contact Carman Lincoln here or by calling (302)-324-4400.

In case you haven’t heard the news, the 2017 Lincoln Continental has arrived at our Newark DE area Lincoln dealer, and it’s kicking down the door to a new era for the luxury automobile. What’s almost as mind-blowing as this vehicle, is the fact that its nameplate has been in use (minus a decade here and there) for 77 years. While it’s changed a lot since then, what hasn’t changed over the years is the brand’s legendary craftsmanship and commitment to providing drivers with the latest and greatest driving experience available.
Edsel Ford commissioned the first Continental in 1938 as his own personal vehicle, but it wasn’t introduced to the public until the following year. In 1940, esteemed architect Frank Lloyd Wright caught a look at the model and proclaimed it “the most beautiful car ever designed” before buying two of them.
During World War II, U.S. auto production slowed in order to support the wartime effort, but when it ended, production resumed and the Continental received an updated grille and hood design. This model packed a V12 under that updated hood, and when the Indy 500 resumed in 1946, the ‘46 Continental served as the official pace car.
In 1956, Ford Motor Company introduced the Lincoln Continental Mark II, which at $10,000 was one of the world’s most expensive and luxurious cars. Top celebrities of the day, including Elvis and Frank Sinatra chose to drive this model.
Sadly, in 1961, John F. Kennedy was assassinated while riding in a modified ‘61 Lincoln Continental. This model featured a telephone and an adjustable rear seat (advanced upgrades for the times) but it unfortunately was not armored. Despite this tragedy, the Continental was not retired from presidential duty until 1977.
In the years that followed, Lincoln released the Continental Mark V, a larger luxury model that reflected the demands of the times. On the TV show Dallas, Jock Ewing drove one. As the years drew on, subsequent models of the Continental became smaller and its sharp angles softened. This continued until 2002, when the nameplate was discontinued.
The 2017 Lincoln Continental near Newark DE at Carman Lincoln is reviving the storied nameplate with a fresh breath of life that’s sure to return it to its early levels of status. The 3.0L V6 engine under the hood puts the power of 400 horses at the command of its driver, and available 30-way adjustable seats make getting comfortable a breeze.
